CEXGAN report: meat exports to third countries continue to decline in May
According to CEXGAN sources, in May, meat exports from Spain to third countries totaled 164,138 tons. This figure is 16% lower than that of the same month of the previous year, which continues to mark the downward trend in exports, although less pronounced than in previous months, as reflected in the latest report published by the CEXGAN of the animal export corresponding to the month of May 2022.
In the accumulated figure for the year (from January to April) Spanish exports to third countries reached 780,468 tons, a decrease of 26% compared to the same period of the previous year.
By subsectors, pork exports continued to decline in May, although less so (-17%). Unlike last month, exports of sheep and goats (-4.6%) and poultry (-15%) decreased in May. While those of beef have recovered (12%) and although they have fallen a little, exports of other meats and preparations (16%) remain positive.
