Avian Influenza: Spain reports two new outbreaks in poultry. This is the third and fourth focus detected in poultry in Spain.
The MAPA has reported the detection of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) in two poultry farms in the provinces of Huelva and Valladolid. It would be the third and fourth focus detected in poultry in Spain.
The first of the confirmed outbreaks corresponds to a fattening turkey farm, with an approximate census of 39,500 2-month-old chickens, located in the municipality of Niebla, in the province of Huelva.
The second case confirmed by the Central Veterinary Laboratory of Algete has been in a laying hen farm located in the municipality of Íscar, in the province of Valladolid, with an approximate census of 130,000 animals.
In Spain, avian influenza was detected for the first time in poultry on January 18 in a turkey fattening farm in the province of Segovia and, on February 2, the Central Veterinary Laboratory of Algete confirmed a second focus on a broiler farm in the province of Huelva .
In relation to detection in wild birds, to date a total of 11 cases have been detected in 2022 in the provinces of Lérida, Girona, Ávila, Palencia, Seville, Huelva and Cádiz..
