European pork exports decrease by almost 30%
The significant decrease in exports to China has caused a significant decrease in total European pork exports.
During the first quarter of this year, European exports have reached 1,142,712 tons, which means a decrease of 28.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Between January and March, 353,294 tons of pork were exported to China, 63.1% less than in the same period of the previous year. In contrast, exports to Japan, the Philippines and South Korea, which represent 10.8%, 10.4% and 9% of total exports, have increased by 58.6%, 23.8% and 96 %, respectively.
These data do not take into account EU exports to the United Kingdom, which, during January and February, received more than 130,000 tons of meat from the EU, placing it in the second destination for European pork, with 15.2 % of the total.
