Pork production in China is already at pre-ASF levels
The National Bureau of Statistics of China has published data on meat production in 2021, which was 88.87 million tons, 16.3% more than the previous year:
• Pork: 52.96 million tons (+28.8%).
• Beef: 6.98 million tons (+3.7%).
• Lamb meat: 5.14 million tons (+4.4%).
• Poultry meat: 23.80 million tons (+0.8%).
Figures that confirm that, in the case of pork, the country is already at figures similar to those of 2017 (barely 0.44 million tons less). Other relevant data in this regard is that during 2021, registered breeding pigs and sows increased by 10.5% and 4.0%, respectively, compared to the end of 2020.
Data also from the General Administration of Customs of China, which showed a 5.34% reduction in Chinese imports of meat, which in 2021 were 9.38 million tons.
